TikTok ad examples: 8 native formats for online stores (with scripts)

VVuzz Editorial Team ·Published 3 Nov 2026 ·9 min read

The best TikTok ad examples for a small store are not the big-budget campaigns that fill most lists. They are ads that look like the posts around them: a reply to a comment, a point-of-view clip, an unboxing with no voice at all. This page gives you eight of them, each with a short script you can shoot or generate this week, the TikTok feature it borrows, and the ad type it suits.

Then: how to search real ads in your niche with TikTok's Creative Center, and a yes/no checklist to score them.

In short
  • ✓A TikTok ad works when it looks native: vertical, full screen, made for sound, with the product in the first seconds.
  • ✓Pick one of the 8 formats below, keep its script shape, and put your own product and customer questions in it.
  • ✓Find more examples in the Creative Center Top Ads and score them with the checklist before you brief.

What makes a TikTok ad different from other video ads?

On TikTok, an ad sits in the For You feed between creators' posts, watched full screen, phone upright, often with sound. TikTok's own creative guidance in its Ads Help Center asks advertisers for vertical 9:16 video and for audio that is part of the idea, not an afterthought.

Three ad types matter for a store:

  • In-Feed ads: videos you upload in Ads Manager, shown in the For You feed with your brand name and a button.
  • Spark Ads: an existing post, from your account or a creator's, promoted as an ad while likes and comments stay on the post.
  • TopView: the first video someone sees when opening the app. It is bought as a reservation and usually suits larger budgets.

Most stores begin with In-Feed and Spark Ads. For technical specs (ratio, length, the zones the interface covers), read our e-commerce video ads guide; this page is about the idea inside the video.

1. The comment reply

Hook: a real question from your comments shown as a sticker, for example "Does it fit a 15-inch laptop?". Script: "Good question. Here's the 15-inch laptop going in, plus the charger, and it still zips." Shots: the sticker, the product being packed, the zip closing. Why it works: it answers a doubt other buyers share, in the tone of a normal post. Use questions your customers really asked.

2. The green screen walkthrough

Hook: a presenter in front of your product page, pointing at one detail: "Everyone asks what this part is for." Script: three short points, each one tied to something visible on the page behind. Shots: one take, the background swapped for the page, then a product close-up. Why it works: the viewer sees the real page they will land on, so the click feels safe.

3. The POV moment

Hook: on-screen text "POV: your lunch survived the commute." Script: no voice, a trending-style sound from TikTok's commercial library, the bag opened on a desk, everything dry. Shots: filmed from the viewer's eyes, hands only. Why it works: people picture themselves in the scene before they notice it is an ad.

4. The no-talking unboxing

Hook: the sound of the box opening, close to the mic. Script: none. Text on screen names the product and one benefit at the end. Shots: tissue paper, the first touch of the product, texture close-ups, the finished setup. Why it works: it suits products where feel and finish sell: candles, ceramics, bedding, packaging you are proud of.

5. Before you buy: 3 things

Hook: "Three things to know before you order this." Script: one sizing tip, one care tip, one honest limit ("it's not dishwasher safe, here's why"). Shots: presenter to camera, cut to the product for each point. Why it works: it reads as help, which suits people who visited your store and left.

6. The side-by-side

Hook: split screen, left "the old way", right "with the tripod". Script: "Filming with a stack of books… or filming like this." Shots: the same task done twice, at the same pace. Why it works: the gain is visible without a claim. Compare with a generic old way, never with a named brand.

7. Behind the counter

Hook: "Packing today's orders, and the one detail we never skip." Script: the founder or a team member shows a step of making, checking or packing, then the finished product. Shots: workshop or packing table, real light, real hands. Why it works: posted on your brand account first, it can then run as a Spark Ad, keeping the comments it already earned.

8. The creator's post

Hook: whatever the creator chose. Script: theirs, untouched. Shots: theirs. Why it works: the post runs from the creator's handle as a Spark Ad once they send you a code from their ad settings. Agree in writing on the period, the fee and the disclosure before they send it.

Formats 1, 2 and 5 need spoken lines. Our 30-second UGC script gives a frame that suits all three.

How do you find TikTok ad examples in your niche?

TikTok runs a free library of ads called Top Ads, inside the TikTok Creative Center. It is the quickest look at what runs in your category.

  1. Open the Creative Center and go to the Top Ads section under Inspiration.
  2. Set the region where you sell and pick your industry, for instance beauty and personal care, home or apparel.
  3. Narrow by campaign objective if the option is shown. Ads built for sales and for awareness often open differently.
  4. Open each ad you like and watch it twice: once as a viewer, once with the checklist below.
  5. Keep five to ten that you can explain in one sentence. Note the format number from the table above next to each.

For Meta placements, the same exercise is done in the Ad Library: see our Facebook video ads examples.

The checklist: score any TikTok ad in two minutes

Answer each line with yes or no. An ad with six yes or more is worth studying. Fewer than four, move on, even if it is from a famous brand.

CheckYes if…
Product earlyYou can name the product within the first seconds
Native lookWithout the "Sponsored" label, it could pass for a normal post
Sound mattersThe voice, sound or music carries part of the message
Muted backupCaptions or on-screen text still tell the story without sound
One ideaYou can say what it is about in a single sentence
Proof you can seeA demonstration, a result or a detail on screen, not just a claim
Clear next stepThe ending says what to do and where it leads
Fits your buyerThe person, the setting and the words would suit your customers

How do you adapt these TikTok ad examples to your product?

Keep the shape, replace the content. Pick the format whose habit matches your product (texture products lean to 4, products with questions lean to 1 and 5), then write the hook with words from your reviews and support inbox.

Plan two hooks for the same body: on TikTok the first line decides whether anyone sees the rest.

AI can now produce all of this. An AI presenter can deliver formats 1, 2 and 5, and the product shots of formats 3, 4 and 6 can be generated from a single product photo. That replaces a creator shoot for UGC-style ads, so you can test many formats before deciding which ones also deserve a creator partnership.

Vuzz does / You check. Starting from your shop and one product image, Vuzz suggests which TikTok format fits, drafts the hook and the lines, chooses who presents and how they sound, then hands you captioned vertical videos. You check: the product matches what you ship, every claim is true, and the button leads to the right page.

What rules apply to TikTok ads for your store?

  • Use licensed music. Business accounts and ads draw from TikTok's Commercial Music Library. Popular tracks from personal accounts are often not cleared for ads.
  • Ask before you reuse. Copy a format, never another account's video. A creator's post runs as your ad only with their code and your written agreement.
  • Keep endorsements honest. 16 CFR Part 255, the FTC rules on endorsements, says a testimonial must match what the person really experienced, and any paid link has to be disclosed. On TikTok that means the paid partnership label for creators, and an AI presenter who shows the product without pretending to have bought it.
  • Follow TikTok's advertising policies. Health, beauty results and before-and-after visuals face extra review, so keep claims modest and provable.

FAQ

What is a good TikTok ad example for a small store?

The comment reply. It costs one question and one short clip, it answers a real doubt, and it looks like a normal post. Add the no-talking unboxing if your product sells on feel.

Where can I see TikTok ads from other brands?

In the Top Ads section of the TikTok Creative Center, filtered by region and industry. TikTok also publishes campaign stories on its business Inspiration pages.

How long should a TikTok ad be?

As long as the idea needs and no longer. A store ad usually shows the product, makes one point and ends quickly. When one performs, try a tighter edit of it as a new variant.

Do TikTok ads need a creator?

No. Your team, your founder or an AI presenter can make every format here except number 8, which by design uses a creator's own post.

Can AI make TikTok ads that look native?

Yes. From one product photo, AI drafts the opening line, creates someone to present it with a matching voice, and edits the vertical video. Keep the presenter demonstrating the product rather than posing as a buyer.
